We didn't have the time to go through a large portion of Kazakhstan as we had hoped, but we did dip down in for a day.

Borat was wrong, it is modern times in Kazakhstan.

They had a nice museum of the natural and human history of the region.

It had a lot of great war posters from WWII.

We took a day in Siberia in the city of Tomsk to rest a bit and get an oil change. These guys were so nice and helpful! We didn't speak the same language, so the owner drove us out to the store to buy the oil and filter. After they had done the work he let us follow him back into the city to the hotel where we were staying.

This is a good example of traditional wooden Siberian architecture. After a day of rest we were ready to start our three day mad dash to Irkutsk.
