Here we are on a hippo lake in a wooden canoe. Our guide brought a teapot to help bail out water when necessary.

Hippos kill more people every year than any other wild animal in Africa. They are territorial and known to charge. We were in a leaky wooden canoe with one unarmed guide.

This river was known to have schistosomiasis, but we took our shoes off and took a chance anyway. In the end, we got to see the views and we didn't get sick. :-)
