We took a day trip out to try and see Mt. Fuji. Hakone is a resort town at the base of the mountain from which you start the trek.

The first leg from Hakone was a scenic and steep mountain railway.

From there we transfered to a funicular and then to the Hakone cable car.

While on the cable car, the winds became intense and we all had to huddle together in fear..

They had to shut down the cable car before we made it all the way to the lake where we could see Mt. Fuji. We were stranded there until a bus came to rescue us..

We recovered from our adventure with a dip in the Hakone onsen, an outdoor natural hot spring bath. Wonderful..
