On the way to Le Mont Ventoux, we decided to take the scenic route through a regional park, Le Parc du Luberon. This is one of my favorites.

Le Mont Ventoux is well known as one of the toughest mountains on the Tour De France. The top of the mountain is barren, everything is covered in white rocks.
This is as high as we could go by car. They had closed the road for the year because of the threat of snow. When we were there, there was no snow, but above a certain height visibility was severely limited by a thick fog.

The four of us got out of the car and started to walk. From the getgo it was pretty clear that the ladies were not going to make it the whole way. :)
The lady lag was in full effect about a half mile into the 3 mile walk, so we decided to take some pictures in the fog and then turn back.

The fog was really thick, visibility was less than 20 meters.

On the way back we had kind of a restroom emergency, so of course we had to wait a couple of minutes for the sheep to cross the road. :)

After we left Le Mont Ventoux, we went to a nearby town which was supposed to have some cool roman ruins, Vaison-la-Romaine.

This is the view from a hill where the ruins of an old castle were. The sun was setting when we were up there so we took a whole lot of pictures.
