The first event that I had tickets to see was Synchronized Swimming. I got to the Olympic Park early because I wanted to browse the site. I didn't really think that the ArcelorMittal Orbit was that impressive in the daylight. It is Britain's largest piece of public art.

I took a walk to see the Olympic Stadium where I would be watching Track and Field the next night - woo-hoo!

London really did a great job of managing and directing the crowds, it was easy to find my way around.

I had two tickets to see the Synchronized Swimming event but I was making the trip alone and didn't know anyone in the city yet. I approached one of the many volunteers outside the stadium and told him of my dilemma.

He took me to his volunteer supervisor, who just happened to be getting off in a few minutes and was dying to see the inside of the London Aquatics Center. He joined me inside just in time to see the British team perform.

It is incredible that they have the core strength and lung capacity to dance upside down underwater in perfect synch.

I don't understand the scoring system at all but maybe thats because I live in the western hemisphere and am not Canadian.
