From Kiev we took an old soviet style train 14 hours to Chisinau, Moldova. We paid extra for the luxury cabin.

No one working on the train spoke English, so we had a lot of fun with miming our way through ordering dinner. We arrived in Chisinau at 5am, but weren't notified until some of the staff noticed that we were still chilling in our cabin. We were unceremoniously shown the door. Luckily there was still a cab waiting out front of the deserted train station.

We crashed at our hotel hotel for a few hours and then booked a tour of the largest wine collection in the world: Milestii Mici.

They have more than 2 million bottles stored underground in former limestone mines. We had to take our tour by car because the mines are over 120 miles long.

Every year one bottle from each grape and vintage is opened and tasted in order for it to be graded and to ensure that they aren't keeping around wine that has gone bad.

In the days of the USSR this room was used for receptions for ranking members of the communist party.
